PARSA Family Schools

In December 2022, PARSA responded to the tightening restrictions on women and girls by launching a new community-based approach to the education and the advancement of young people in Afghanistan: PARSA Family Schools. The schools are conducted through the extensive networks belonging to 4 PARSA programs: Sisters 4 Sisters Youth, Brothers 4 Brothers Youth, Sisters 4 Sisters Professional, and PARSA’s Afghan Scouts.

PARSA Family Schools are carefully driven by locally trained Afghan staff and volunteers mobilized across Afghanistan and the structure respects the determination of Afghan families to take care of their children and communities, and to drive positive outcomes in what currently is a very difficult and dynamic situation in the country. As of May 2023, over 2,000 children and youth are enrolled in the Family Schools in 17 provinces, studying three to fives times per week.

It costs $70 per month to provide a materials package (white boards, stationary, books, etc.) to start a new Family School, and select Family School teachers who are facing an extremely difficult economic situation are provided a monthly $100 humanitarian food package that supports a family of 7-10 people for one month. Your support allows us to continue to grow this innovative program, with a goal of enrolling 10,000 Afghan youth by the end of this year.
