I started my career in the private sector in the Financial Services industry and worked there for over twenty years. In 2002, I left my position as Vice President at State Street Corporation to start my own firm. I did it for two reasons: I wanted my work to be meaningful to have a greater impact; and to use my knowledge and experience to solve problems without having to worry about my career progression.

To achieve my goals, I started my consulting firm AMRA Global Consulting, which has provided services to private and public sector firms like IFC, the World Bank, MEDA, CNFA, John Hancock Corporation, Manulife Corporation and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. While over the years AMRA has assisted senior executives of these organization or their clients in governance and leadership development, strategic planning and change management, AMRA has also assisted these organizations in the financial services areas dealing with technical issues.

I was recruited to reorganize the teams, change the culture of the organization and increase funding in the last three assignments with different organizations: Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) as the CEO AKAH (humanitarian organization), in Afghanistan in 2012; AKDN as Associate Director for AKF (Development organization) in 2014 and Oxfam International as the Country Director of Oxfam in Afghanistan in 2018.

I have also served on several boards over the years in Afghanistan and the USA. The longest serving assignment was with the Women’s Lunch Place in Boston, where I served for five years.

I have a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University’s Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a Master of Business Administration from Karachi University’s Institute of Business Administration. I am also a Chartered Financial Analyst, registered with the CFA Institute.

I was born and raised in Pakistan and have lived most of my adult life in the USA between Houston, Texas and Newton Massachusetts – where  I currently a reside with my husband. I love to paint and read in my spare time.
