Widows Garden Activities

Widows Garden activities include the following:

  • The Master Gardener will teach the women how to garden, how to keep the compound clean, and how to compost.
  • The Economic Development Director will teach the widows to be entrepreneurs so they can earn additional income of $60 to $80 per month during the growing season and provide food for their family that will reduce household costs by $20 or more per month. The women will also be taught are taught marketing and sales, how to prepare food, and cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • The Economic Development Director will also assist these widows in forming a cooperative to sell the produce they grow.
  • The Educational Development Director will set up a literacy program for the women in the gardening program.
  • PARSA will provide psychosocial activities and access to the PARSA Women’s Center.
  • PARSA will provide for physical therapy for the disabled through a weekly outreach program.
  • Documentation of the program will be provided by the Program Designer and Training Consultant.
