Master Gardener Kareem Baghwan

The Widows Garden Program is teaching Zeba Gul how to garden and how to prepare food. One day when Zeba Gul expected many guests for lunch, she fixed a huge feast for them. Unfortunately, her guests never arrived.

Zeba Gul looked at the meal of pilaf, okra, chutney, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots and other food from her garden and started crying.

PARSA’s Master Gardener Kareem Baghwan saw her weeping and asked, "What is wrong? Why are you crying?"

Zeba Gul pointed at all the food and said, "My guests have not come for their lunch and I have all this food that will spoil."

"No, no it won't spoil. Give it to me," the gardener told her. "I will help you. I will take the food to the bazaar and sell it."

Karachi Cart

The gardener took the food on a karachi cart to the shopkeepers near Zeba Gul's house. He had never been a salesman before so he asked one of the shopkeepers, "What should I do to sell this food?"

"I will be your first customer," the shopkeeper replied. "Sell some food to me."

The shopkeeper liked the food so much, he called his friends to buy the food also. When lunch was over, he told the gardener to bring the karachi cart with food every day for lunch at eleven-thirty.

Zeba Gul now makes enough money to support her family of ten.
