Integrated Program Approach

Education

Yasin Farid, PARSA's National Director, talks with a disabled patient at Marastoon.

PARSA has a seasoned teaching staff that has delivered high quality early childhood and adult literacy programs in 21 conservative villages in Paghman district over the last five years. Our educators work closely with our social workers in our programs for children to develop programs for learning disabilities, and learning programs for children with psychosocial problems. PARSA’s early childhood program has been acknowledged as one of the best in the country by Catholic Relief Services (CRS).

Social work and Psychosocial Support

Our team of professionals include physiotherapists, psychosocial trainers, and social workers who support our economic and education programs by working with people or children with multiple challenges. Afghans get support that is personalized, culturally appropriate, and effective. PARSA's "well being" staff works directly with severely mentally ill people, orphan children who are experiencing difficulties because of disabilities or war trauma, and provides peer-counseling training for groups of widows.

Economic Development for Marginalized Afghan Adults

PARSA has provided economic programs for vulnerable women and disabled people for over ten years - training Afghans who would not ordinarily have access to job training. Our economic training programs include healthcare education, physiotherapy, psychosocial services, accelerated learning programs (literacy), and business development. PARSA’s gift shop features products made by disabled people and widows in PARSA’s "on the job" training programs. All of our trainees are paid a fair wage during their training and supported as they transition into regular employment or they start their own businesses.
